Hello Membership Required,

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I am glad it was of some interest to you. I'm not sure how to reply to you so I thought I'd just post it! I hope this is OK. If you send me your email address I can reply whenever needed.

The answer to your question about the steroids is thankfully no. No asacol or enemas or iron tablets in my case. The only thing I did and am continuing to take is imodium 4 times a day which is a massive relief.

I recovered quite quickly after my 1st operation, the first 2 weeks were the hardest and then, things start getting easier. My consultant thought I would have my stoma bag for 10 -12 weeks, but I bounced back quicker than I think he expected and I had the stoma bag off after 7 weeks.

The 2nd operation took me about a week to start feeling better. I can't stress enough how important it is to keep active, because even though it was a quicker recovery time I did suffer with back ache and cramp and the consultant said that was caused by not having any exercise. The total recovery time my consultant said would probably be 12 months but that can differ. I am hoping it will be before that, but that's because I am inpatient. Already though I can pretty much eat what I want, yes I do still need to go to the toilet quite frequently but I can hold it, so it definintely doesnt restrict me from doing anything.

I will definitely keep upto my blog and thank you again for taking the time out to leave a comment. I wish you all the best for the future and a speedy recovery. If there is anything else I can help you with please feel free to drop me another email. I'd love to hear from you and I will try and help you as much as I can.

I hope the above has answered your questions. Sorry I don't know your name, but best wishes to you and your family! Love Natalie.

  2. hi,
just came across your blog through a google search. have you tried the specific carbohydrate diet? i was diagnosed with UC back in 2004 and put on meds by my doctor which didn't do much to help me. i did alot of research and found a book called "Breaking The Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschall that is a must-read for anyone dealing with colitis. i've been med free and symptom free since. you can read about my journey on my blog at comfytummy.com the book has helped thousands of people world-wide. i wish you all of the best.

  3. Most UC'ers have tried alternatives other than meds. However, we do need to be very careful talking about things like Breaking the Vicious Cycle when someones doctor is talking about surgery -

The SCDiet is very difficult to follow and for someone really sick it is hard to try and follow with maintaining nutrion and weight. Please be very careful what sites you try to sell your product on, b/c people advanced in UC to surgery have UC way more complicated than those people where SCD diet supposedly works.

  5. Hi Again,

How did the appointment go with your 3rd surgeon? Were you not happy the previous ones? How has your illness been lately?

Since last time I posted me comment, I have had one or two minor issues.

I went to see my consultant last week, he again was happy with my progress and I was very happy to hear that we can start a family soon if we so wish.

Salad and some fibre food I have noticed has had a negative effect on me. Firstly my stomach bloats up and I get an urgent need to go to the bathroom, but because I have been told to try and hold it in so it gives the j pouch time to expand I haven't been going and the griping starts. It starts off as nothing but then slowly gets worse. But within 20 minutes you have to go and you are alright again then.

The consultant said that I am expecting too much too soon, in terms of my tiredness and aching and still having issues going to the bathroom. He said that it is still early days and that I am doing extremely well, so things that they worry about is not what I was telling him. They are bothered about infection or constipation, so everything I mentioned he didnt seem to be too concerned about which again did put my mind at rest.

I have missed on occasions taking my 2 a day loperamide, which is a big no no. It really effects me if I don't take them all daily. Unfortunately the pain and burning sensation whilst going to the toilet is still there, and I find that quite hard to deal with, but sometimes it is worse than others and I am still trying to work out why that is.

But apart from that, I am back at work now, easing back into my work routine. Work have been really good and accomodating, but I feel stronger now to go back full time and resume my normal role, which i'm pleased about.

I look forward to hearing from you.

  6. Hi Natalie,
I have been checking in on your blog and just now realized that you left this comment for me. Feel free to visit my blog www.road2singledigitjeans.blogspot.com that will have all my updates on what is going on. I interviewed a third surgeon and loved him. I am going with him. He told me on Monday that surgery scheduling is still 4-6 weeks out so apparently I have lots of time to dwell on all that is to happen. I am glad that you are doing well. I am not anxious to experience the butt burn that everyone raves about. Grin. So is Loperamide a pain medicine? What is that? When are you planning on starting a family? They didnt encourage you to wait a year from the surgery. That is all that I have heard that it should take a full year of healing before I should try such a thing. Time isnt on my side so I know I will be pushing my recovery along and praying that we will be blessed with more children. I just know in my heart that I am not "done" having babies. Well take care and what is it that you do for work? Glad to hear that you are resuming your normal role again. ML

How are you finding the stoma bag, and everything really?

I'm okay thank you, still in good health now. I saw my consultant recently who is really happy with my progress and I always feel better after I have seen him and he gives me his feelings on things.

Take it easy and hope you make a speedy recovery.

  9. It is no secret that I have a very deep and personal relationship with God. I have pushed and resisted that relationship this past year through all the bullshit I have had to go through living with Herpes but once again, God is bigger than my stubbornness and broke through that outbreak cold sore and all I had Genital Herpes. For me personally, hearing over and over how I am not good enough has really invaded my mind in the worst way possible. I completely shut down and I was just waking up like is this how life going to end this temporary herpes outbreak “fuck everybody with herpes if you know what I mean” but let's be honest here...
It is a cowardly to say no to herbal medicine. It is fear based. And it is dishonest to what my heart wants. Don't build a wall around yourself because you are afraid of herbals made or taking a bold step especially when it's come to health issues and getting cure. So many young men/ women tell me over and over that Dr Itua is going to scam me but I give him a try to today I feel like no one will ever convince me about herbal medicine I accept Dr Itua herbal medicine because it's cure my herpes just two weeks of drinking it and i have been living for a year and months now I experience outbreak no more, You can contact him if you need his herbal medicine for any such diseases like, Herpes, Schizophrenia,Cancer,Scoliosis,Fibromyalgia,Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Syndrome Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva.Fatal Familial Insomnia Factor V Leiden Mutation ,Epilepsy Dupuytren's disease,Desmoplastic,Diabetes ,Coeliac disease,Creutzfeldt–Jakob,,Lyme Disease,Epilepsy, ,ALS,Hepatitis,Copd,Parkinson disease.Genetic disease,Fibrodysplasia disease,Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Men/Woman infertility, bowel disease ,Huntington's disease ,Diabetes,Fibroid. disease,Lupus,Lipoid Storage diseases( Gauchers disease),Polycystic Disease.,Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy, Ataxia,Cirrhosis of Liver,Arthritis,Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis,Alzheimer's disease,Adrenocortical carcinoma.Asthma,Allergic,HIV, Epilepsy, Infertility, Love Spell,. Email..drituaherbalcenter@gmail.com then what's app.+2348149277967.... My advice to any sick men/women out there is simple... Be Always an open book. Be gut wrenching honest about yourself, your situation, and what you are all about. Don't hold anything back. Holding back will get you nowhere...maybe a one way ticket to lonelyville and that is NOT somewhere you want to be. So my final truth...and I'm just starting to grasp this one..
